TMJ Treatment Expert Fresno
Get to Know Dr. Jake Weissich

Dr. Weissich strives to help his patients feel so comfortable in the office that it’s an easy choice for them to trust him to address their jaw pain. He likes that his profession gives him the chance to truly get to know people in Fresno and the surrounding area; for him, it’s all about making a lasting, positive impact on their lives.
Why Did Dr. Weissich Decide to Focus on TMJ Treatment?
Dr. Weissich had his mind set on going into healthcare since his late teen years, as he always liked the idea of getting to work with his hands and of alleviating pain. This led him to spend two years working as a tech in the ICU, caring for burn victims. He also had the opportunity to observe prosthetic and reconstructive dentistry in a private dental practice, and it wasn’t long before he decided to pursue this career himself. Not only would dentistry allow him to relieve pain and work with his hands, but he’d also be able to develop long-lasting relationships with his patients.
His decision to shift his focus to TMJ treatment came after he saw firsthand the intense impact that jaw and orofacial issues were having on his patients, his loved ones, and even himself. A search for a local jaw joint expert revealed that the Central Valley area was lacking in this highly specialized branch of dentistry. Through many hours of continuing education, he quickly began to hone his expertise in this field, and the more he learned about it, the more he grew to love it – it’s safe to say it has become his passion!
Where Did Dr. Weissich Study?
After wrapping up his undergraduate education at Hunter College, in New York, Dr. Weissich went on to graduate from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. This was followed by a residency in which he split his training between the Community Regional Medical Center and the Fresno VA Hospital.
As a resident, he gained a lot of experience doing surgery, emergency dentistry, and prosthetic reconstructions, specifically on patients with complex medical histories. Once his residency was over, he worked in several dental offices as an associate; this was an education in and of itself, helping him to solidify his treatment philosophy and further expand his interest in TMJ treatment.
Dr. Weissich has often been accused of being a “continuing education junkie”, probably because he tends to do at least twice as many hours as what’s required! He has spent the majority of these hours soaking up everything he can on TMJ treatment and sleep dentistry. He’s also an active member of numerous reputable organizations, such as:
